An off-duty police cop was arrested early Monday morning, April 7, in Barangay Sapangdaku, Cebu City, after allegedly attacking a civilian and threatening him with a gun literally a violent outburst for the cop in cebu.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Police Corporal ‘Ivan,’ works at the Mandaue City Police Office. The victim, 32-year-old Nerson, is a local resident.

According to an initial investigation by Cebu City Police Station 9, the incident happened after 4 a.m. when the officer suddenly attacked Nerson without any clear reason. The officer reportedly hit Nerson and pointed his gun at him, causing injuries and fear.

Responding officers found the officer’s gun at the scene. The police officer is now in custody at the Guadalupe Police Station, and charges for Grave Threat and Physical Injuries are being prepared.

Authorities have not yet explained the motive or if there will be internal action taken against the officer. The investigation is still ongoing.

This incident has raised concerns about accountability and discipline within the Philippine National Police, especially with off-duty misconduct.
